Dorothy Yoder
DOROTHY M. YODER, 98 MOUNT MORRIS - Dorothy M. Yoder, 98, of Mount Morris died Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home. Born March 26, 1910, in Rockvale Township, Ogle County, daughter of Daniel R. and Helen M. (Stouffer) Samsel. Graduate of Mount Morris High School, Class of 1928, and also attended Mount Morris College and DeKalb Normal Teacher's College. Married the late A. Allen Yoder on Sept. 2, 1932. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Mount Morris. Member of Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris, and Ogle County Historical Society. Survivors include, son, Frederic A. (Louise) Yoder of Babbitt, Minn.; daughter, Sara A. (William) Davidson of Greenville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Predeceased also by parents; sisters, Bernice Hohnadel and Lois Noonkesser; and brothers, Ralph, Maurice, Emmert, Paul and Carl Samsel. Service at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in Disciples United Methodist Church, Mount Morris, with visitation from noon to time of service; the Rev. Lora Zink, pastor, Disciples United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial in Plainview Cemetery in Mount Morris. Memorials to Ogle County Hospice, Disciples United Methodist Church or Mount Morris Public Library. Arrangements by Finch Funeral Home.

Aunt Dorothy was amazing. I called her on Sundays, and she stayed sharp as a tack until the end. We discussed how we could easily solve the problems of the world if someone would elect us! :-) We always shared some good laughs.
I made every effort to return to Mt. Morris for the Fourth of July and watch the parade from her front yard, being able to count on a good share of relatives gathering there for an annual mini-reunion. My fear is that will cease to be, as that keeps me returning to Mt. Morris at a time when I can catch up with relatives and friends.
Here's to Aunt Dorothy! Oh that we all can live such a long, quality life.
She was an amazing woman and a great aunt.
Dorothy Yoder was one very nice lady...she and Alan were especially kind and supportive of Ed and I as we raised our son. Always engaging him in coversation and making it so much easier for everyone to include Patrick in the main stream of Mt. Morris life...and she always asked about him,nothing is closer to a mothers heart than genuine interest in one child..I just loved those two for that...Lynne...
In my mind's eye, Dorothy is always about 40 years old, probably the last time I saw her as we girls would gather at the Yoder home. But I kept up on her life through a relative by marriage.
